Shoulder

Schulter

The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the human body. It connects the arm to the trunk and enables a wide range of movements. It owes its exceptional mobility to the interplay between the upper arm bone (humerus), shoulder blade (scapula) and collarbone (clavicle) as well as the muscles, tendons and ligaments.

The shoulder allows enormous freedom of movement in almost all directions. The coordinated interaction of the joint, muscles and tendons allows the arm to be lifted, rotated and stretched. This versatility makes the shoulder unique, but also makes it susceptible to overloading and injury.

Both acute problems (fractures, sports injuries) and chronic signs of wear and tear (osteoarthritis) are treated by our specialists. The treatment approaches include:

  • Conservative therapies using medication, infiltration therapies (autologous blood, hyaluron, cortisone) and/or physiotherapy
  • Operative treatments with minimally invasive procedures (arthroscopy) through to joint replacement

We will be happy to inform you about the right treatment option for you, whether conservative or surgical, and accompany you on the path to a better quality of life.
