Osteoarthritis

Knie

In advanced osteoarthritis, the articular cartilage is worn out, causing pain and restricted movement.

If conservative and joint-preserving treatments do not provide enough improvement, an artificial knee joint is the appropriate treatment.

The damaged joint surface is replaced by an artificial surface.

In most cases, full weight bearing with no restrictions is allowed immediately. For stabilisation and to prevent falls, we recommend the use of elbow crutches for four to six weeks.

Watch the videos to learn how advanced joint wear in the knee is treated with a modern artificial joint replacement. You can see how the procedure is planned, what technique is used and what the follow-up care looks like.
