Cartilage damage

Knie

The cartilage acts as a buffer in the joint. Damage is caused by accidents or age-related wear and tear, leading to pain and swelling.

If conservative measures are unsuccessful, surgery may be necessary to stimulate cartilage regeneration.

Depending on the extent and location of the cartilage damage, the procedure can be performed using either arthroscopy or a mini-open technique.

In most cases, six weeks of partial weight bearing is needed.
