Tendon diseases

Hand

The tendons transfer muscle power to the bones and enable movement of the finger and wrist joints. If the tendon sheaths become inflamed or constricted, pain and functional disorders occur. Common clinical pictures are tendon sheath inflammation, the so-called rapid finger or ganglions.

If conservative treatments such as immobilisation, injections or anti-inflammatory measures are unsuccessful, minor surgery can be useful to prevent permanent damage.

The procedure is minimally invasive. A small incision is made to widen the constricted tendon sheath or remove interfering tissue so that the tendon can glide freely again.

The hand remains mobile after the operation. A light bandage protects the wound, while the fingers and wrist can be moved gently again immediately to prevent adhesions.
