Hallux Valgus

Fuss

Hallux valgus describes a malposition of the big toe, often accompanied by splayfoot or hammertoes. A muscular imbalance causes the big toe to deviate outwards at the metatarsophalangeal joint and can affect neighbouring toes.

Surgery is recommended if there is persistent pain, inflammation or significant misalignment and conservative measures such as insoles or wide shoes no longer help.

Today, joint-preserving and functional procedures are available that deliver very good aesthetic and medical results. The procedure enables rapid weight-bearing, usually without a plaster cast.

Walking in the special shoe is possible within a short time. After a certain period of time, you can switch to normal footwear. Light sports activities are possible after a while, while more intensive sports can be resumed later.
