Elbow
The elbow joint is a hinge joint that connects the upper arm bone (humerus) with the two forearm bones (ulna and radius). The joint structure is stabilized by ligaments, which prevent excessive movements and protect the joint from injury. The articular cartilage in the elbow joint reduces friction between the bones and ensures smooth movement.
The elbow joint allows flexion and extension of the forearm as well as limited rotation, especially when turning the hand. Muscles and tendons enable precise control of arm movements, which are necessary for activities such as lifting, throwing, and gripping.
