Tailored precision.

Anaesthesia (from the Greek for “without sensation”) means freedom from pain, lack of sensation for an operational diagnostic procedure or purely for pain-relief therapy following a trauma.

The types of anaesthesia

Put very simply, there are two different forms of anaesthesia: regional anaesthesia that involves the pain being switched off while the patient is fully conscious and general anaesthetic where the patient is put under a deep sleep. There are many mixed forms in between these two forms: from the lightest twilight sleep to the deepest form of narcosis.

No matter which form of anaesthesia is chosen, the dose of the substance used is dependent on the kind of surgery involved, the expected intensity of the pain and the patient’s individual perception of pain. It is therefore very important that the patient and the anaesthetist discuss things before the operation so that the correct form and dosage of the anaesthetic can be found.

At Klinik Gut we make great efforts so that we can provide patients with the most modern anaesthetic procedures and anaesthetic technology. For example, ultrasound controlled regional anaesthesia and the monitoring of individual depth of sleep during full narcosis are standard here. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bispectral_index)

The actual anaesthesia is performed by the anaesthesia team, which consists of anaesthesia specialists and specially trained anaesthesia care staff.
